Karla didn’t even know what design was in high school. She just drew sneakers. She only realised it was what she wanted to do when she met some designers in an online sneaker collector’s forum. Her first job was at a big agency and it threw her. She didn’t realise that being a designer meant doing all the leg-work, making presentations and not being able to contribute to the whole project. Now she feels blessed and believes happiness in the industry depends on agencies seeing the bigger person, not just the bigger picture. She doesn’t draw sneakers any more.
